LAKE CHARLES -- A man accused in a six-year-old homicide in Lake Charles is now in FBI custody.

Jose Manuel Garcia Guevara was extradited Tuesday from Mexico.

Authorities say he surrendered there back in October.

He was placed on the FBI's ten most wanted list for the February 2008 murder and rape of 26-year old Wanda Barton.

Guevara was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center Tuesday evening.

"Those individuals who seek to bring violence to our communities and to pray upon the most vulnerable of our citizens should take notice that there is no place that you can run. There is no hideout that is so secluded that the men and women of the FBI will not seek you out," said Donald Bostic with the FBI.

The FBI says Guevara was the 499th addition to the most wanted list.
