The victim told Baton Rouge Police she knocked on the door to Mills' apartment when she was looking for her friend. She claims Mills opened the door, then slammed it in her face. She claims she knocked again, but there was never an answer. The victim says she and a friend walked away, when they heard Mills yelling at them. She said she turned around, and Mills punched her in the mouth. She claims she fell to the ground, and temporarily lost consciousness. She required four stitches as a result of the attack.
Baton Rouge Police tell NBC33 the victim identified Mills in a lineup during the month of May. BRPD investigators contacted Mills by telephone on May 29, 2014. Investigators say Mills told them he wouldn't be in Baton Rouge until June 9, 2014, when LSU's Summer School session started. BRPD says, investigators arranged a meeting with Mills at 5:00 pm on June, 10, 2014. According to police, Mills didn't show up for the meeting, and that's when they issued a warrant for his arrest. Tuesday evening, BRPD officers arrested Mills at the LSU Police Department and transported him to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Mills is facing a Second Degree Battery charge, and is waiting for a bond hearing in the EBR Parish Prison.
Mills was selected as a 2012 Freshman All-American and was a 2012 SEC Freshman of the Week pick. He started his freshman season in all 13 games at cornerback. He is one of LSU's top pro prospects.
