Escaped OCC Inmate Captured in Bawcomville


The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office has captured an escaped inmate from OCC.

Deputies say Mark Cannon was captured by the OPSO Warrant Team just after 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in Bawcomville on Hickory Street.

The capture came from a CrimeStoppers tip.

No injuries were reported.

MONROE -- The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office is trying to find an escaped inmate.

On Tuesday, deputies of the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center say two inmates who had escaped from their minimum security dorms heading towards OCC’s perimeter fence.

Deputies were able to catch one of the inmates, but are still looking for 25-year old Mark Alan Cannon Jr.

Cannon was in jail on a warrant for Possession of Methamphetamine and a probation violation for carnal knowledge of a juvenile, according to police.

Monroe Police say the man goes by the name "Mack" and is originally from Ouachita Parish.

Anyone with information on Cannon’s whereabouts is asked to call OPSO at 318-329-1200 or crime stoppers at 388-2274 (CASH).
