MONROE -- A Monroe man was arrested this week for drug charges.

On Friday, the Monroe Police Department along with the MPD MET Team were patrolling the 4200 block of Elm Street at the request of a local apartment manager.

According to the police report, the manager said someone was on the property hanging around outside, and wanted him arrested for trespassing.

The report said the officers approached 25-year old Markale Nelson of Monroe, who said he did not live there.

The report says Nelson whispered to the officer that he worked for Crime Stoppers and that he was about to sell to someone out there and set them up.

Officers patted Nelson down and felt an unknown object in his right pocket that appeared to be numerous pills, the report says.

Police found on Nelson 63 Xanax bars and seven individually packaged bags of suspected cocaine. Nelson refused to identify himself to officers, the report says.

He was booked into Ouachita Correctional Center for trespassing, possession of Xanax and cocaine with the intent to distribute, and resisting/refusing to give an ID.
