Armed Robber Tries to Hold Up Burger King

MONROE -- Monroe Police report at 1 a.m. Tuesday, an attempted armed robbery took place at the Burger King restaurant located at 1701 MLK Dr.

Their investigation revealed that an employee had left the back of the business and was confronted by a masked subject who forced the employee at gunpoint back into the restaurant.

Once inside, police said the subject demanded money from the manager and forced the other employees to lie on the ground.

It was when a customer approached the drive-through window that the suspect fled on foot out of the back of the business.

The suspect did not take anything from the restaurant.

He is described as a black male standing at 5'11" tall with a skinny build wearing all dark clothing, a Halloween mask, backpack and armed with a handgun.

The suspect was last seen running toward Winnsboro Rd.
