MONROE/TALLULAH (KTVE/KARD) -- A Tallulah man was arrested in Monroe this week on drug charges.
Now, new details are emerging, painting an even bigger drug picture.
35-year-old Demeante Thompson was arrested in Monroe, but now his charges are spanning parishes.
A joint investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the DEA and the local Metro Narcotics Unit led to the arrest of Thompson in the parking lot of the Monroe Target retailer on Wednesday.
Authorities said Thompson was carrying 5,000 Xanax tablets and $5,000 in cash.
Thompson is now in the Ouachita Correctional Center charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance IV with Intent to Distribute.
Now, Madison Parish detectives said Thompson is coming right back to them once he bonds out of OCC.
They said he's a local drug dealer there and they executed a search warrant of his house on Louisiana Street in Tallulah earlier this week.
There, detectives said they found more than 20 pounds of marijuana, several firearms and thousands in cash.
Madison Parish authorities said he'll be charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Illegal Carrying of a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
If convicted, Thompson could face more than 40 years in prison.
Madison Parish authorities said the investigation is still ongoing.
