MONROE (PAWS Press Release) -- PAWS of Northeast Louisiana will be sponsoring its monthly offsite adoption opportunity of available pets from the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter next weekend.
Come see a great variety of adoptable pets at the PAWS’ offsite adoption on Saturday, July 26th, 2014, at Petco in Monroe from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
PAWS says the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter is crowded so it is imperative that the adoptable pets find homes. Adopting a pet saves two lives: one of the animal adopted and another for the space that adoption created for another pet coming into the shelter.
From January to June, the shelter has taken in over 800 dogs and cats, with over 600 of those being euthanized.
Since PAWS cannot adopt their way out of this surplus of homeless pets, they would like to remind all pet-owners to have their pets spayed/neutered as soon as the animals are of age.
Adopted pets may quickly settle in to their new homes, while others may require two weeks or more to adapt. Some will require housetraining, schooling on basic manners and/or additional time to adjust to current pets in the household. These factors should be considered prior to adopting a new pet.
If you aren't in the market for a new friend, come get a FREE pet ID tag to help your current pets find their way home if they ever become lost. A collar without ID tags just isn’t enough.
The (cash) adoption fee is $60 for dogs and $50 for cats, and this includes a spay/neuter certificate and 7-in-1 & Bordetella vaccinations for dogs or 4-in-1 vaccination for cats.
