New Horseshoe Pits Opened in Monroe
MONROE, LA -- Are you into playing horseshoe?
The city of Monroe officially opened 12 new horseshoe pits at Chennault Park on Wednesday.
The project came about after the success of the 2011 World Horseshoe Championship that was held in Monroe.
The addition of the horseshoe pits will not only offer something new for residents, but will allow the city to host more tournaments throughout the year.
"This is something that our locals can enjoy so it makes it a great partnership. The community can enjoy it but it also has the opportunity to bring in people from throughout other communities to come in and spend and create an economic impact," said Alana Cooper with the Monroe/West Monroe Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Chennault Park will host a state horseshoe tournament in may as part of the Louisiana state games.
