Monroe Salvation Army planning Season of Giving events to help those in need

MONROE, La. - With Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner, The Salvation Army of Monroe is looking forward to making this holiday season a bright one for all across Northeast Louisiana. Residents will begin to see Red Kettles and Angel Trees popping up all over Monroe.

“We want everyone to know the joy of Christmas morning,” said Sergeant Jerome Casey, Monroe Salvation Army Corps Officer. “Every child should wake up Christmas morning and have gifts to unwrap.”

Your generosity will not only bring presents to over one thousand children during Christmas, but by placing your donations in a kettle, you will help feed a family whose pay check doesn’t stretch far enough or to a utility bill for a senior on a fixed income.

“Your donations make Christmas possible for so many, but they fill needs lasting the whole year,” said Sergeant Casey.

The Salvation Army also needs volunteers who can donate their time to ring the bell at a kettle location as well as help compile Christmas presents at our Angel Tree workshop.
