Louisiana Delta Community College "Dress For Success" Fashion Show

WEST MONROE, La. - Louisiana Delta Community College is helping students to show their best selves to potential employers with a Dress for Success Fashion Show.

The event will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29 in the first floor Conference Center at the school’s main campus.

The Fashion Show is part of the school’s Career Awareness Month theme of Quest for Success.

Earlier this month LDCC held a Resumé Review event, where career placement specialists helped students create a resumé and fine-tune resumés they had already created.

“We just want to make sure students who are ready to start their careers have the vital information on their resumés to set them apart and really make the resumé pop,” said Career and Job Specialist Julie Salter.

“We want them to make it to the interview portion of a job application, and then we want to make sure they succeed there as well.”

That’s where the Dress for Success Fashion Show comes in.

Students will be treated to a keynote address and demonstrations from local fashion designer Anthony McCray.

McCray is a Ferriday native who started his own fashion line, Christien Kollection, right here in Monroe.

His designs have been showcased at Fashion Weeks across the US, including New York Fashion Week, West Palm Beach Fashion Week and New Orleans Fashion Weeks; his Kollection has also been featured on the Red Carpet at both the 2015 and 2016 Golden Globes, and the 2015 BET Awards.

McCray says his fashion line is meant to promote individuality, not stifle it – but to do so while still adhering to the feel of a professional workplace.

“We’re dedicated to allowing people to express themselves by being unique, but with a professional image,” McCray said.

The Dress for Success event will also feature door prizes, and the best dressed class in attendance will win a pizza party for their whole class.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. at LDCC’s Main Campus, located at 7500 Millhaven Rd. For more information, contact Julie Salter at 218-345-09151.
