Along with holiday feasts and snacks, the amount of daylight can also play a big factor.
"It gets dark out sooner. There is less sunlight. Less sun exposure can lead to a drop in serotonin. This can impact your mood and the foods you want to eat," said dietician Marta Wright.
To help fight off the pounds and hunger, Wright suggest you eat small snacks, high in protein and complex carbohydrates through out the day.
Things like nuts, whole grains and beans.
She says its also important to eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.
If fresh produce is not available, Wright suggest you eat frozen instead of canned.
Wright says it's also important to eat probiotics like yogurt which are good for your immune system.
