Home Health House Calls: Weight Loss

WEST MONROE (UNITED HOME CARE) -- It's once again time for New Year's resolutions. Some of the most common resolutions are losing weight and being healthier.

Healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes, and not all bodies are made to be thin. For some people, a healthy weight is higher or lower than the average weight listed on weight charts.

Losing weight can help with some health problems, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and sleep apnea. You may also feel more energy.

Remember that your goal doesn't have to be a specific weight. You may decide on a fitness goal instead, such as walking 10 miles a week. Or you can choose a health goal like lowering your blood pressure.

Choose a goal that is measurable for you, that way you will know when you've reached it.

Don't be discouraged if you don't see change right away, as habits do not change overnight. Be realistic and take small steps that will help you stay on path to success.

Happy New Year!
