AMR Holds Free CPR Training Course in Monroe
MONROE -- American Medical Response (AMR) tried to set a world record on Wednesday for CPR training.
Last year, they taught more than 51,000 people in 40 states.
Compression-only CPR allows bystanders to keep life-saving blood flowing through a victim’s body just by pressing on the chest in a hard, fast rhythm.
The free class at the Pecanland Mall on Wednesday showed folks how to do compression CPR which includes hand to chest compression only and no mouth-to-mouth.
The company says there's no reason anyone should be afraid to use compression only CPR to save someone's life.
"If you're out in public, you'll be able to initiate some life-saving measures until first responders arrive and can do a little more advanced skills,"said Justin Nowlin with AMR.
The class coincides with National EMS week, which is dedicated to the nation's first responders.
