MONROE -- Dozens of people donated blood on Thursday during the Beach Bash Blood Drive in Monroe.

Folks can drop into the Pecanland Mall and give blood to the Lifeshare Blood Center during the festive "summer-themed" event which lasts through Sunday.

The blood drive goal is 200 donors.

All donors receive a free T-shirt, a restaurant coupon, and are entered into a raffle for a $200 gift card.

The Lifeshare Blood Center reports that they are low on O-positive and O-negative blood --- and they need donors this summer.

"When schools shut down for the summer, we lose a huge number of donors. So, we have to come to places like the mall, parking lots to kind of beg for blood. This is kind of a good way for us to do a party themed blood drive," said Ashley White with Lifeshare Blood Center.

If you're interested in giving blood, you can stop by the Pecanland Mall on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. Through 7 p.m. or on Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
