LA Delta Courts Spring with New Volleyball Setup
MONROE (LDCC) -- It's been quite a cold winter so far, but Louisiana Delta Community College is already looking excitedly toward warmer times; the school is courting spring with a new sand volleyball area.
Workers broke ground Wednesday on the volleyball court, which the LA Delta SGA has been working toward for several semesters.
"We've been looking forward to this since Fall semester of 2011," said Alvina Thomas, Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. "We're excited to be able to offer students an outdoor activity to take part in between classes, or during lunch, or whenever they might have a spare moment and a craving for some fun in the sun."
The court, which will be located at the East end of the school, is expected to be finished just in time for spring and some warmer weather. Its inaugural game will be played during Delta's annual Spring Fest, when a Students vs. Faculty and Staff game is set to take place.
