Baton Rouge -- Governor Bobby Jindal and Education Superintendent John White will meet next week to discuss their disagreement on Common Core and possibly reach a compromise.

Jindal announced last month that the state would not be taking part in Common Core standards for the upcoming school year. John White and the head of BESE countered by saying the standards would continue as planned.

The Jindal administration also suspended a contract that the Board of Education needed to buy the testing materials used for Common Core.

The meeting between Jindal and White is set for July 17.

School leaders KTVE/KARD have spoken with in recent weeks say they are still implementing the Common Core Standards for the upcoming school year as planned.
