WEST MONROE, LA
-- Before the big fight Saturday night, the contenders in Battle Of The Badges
are getting weighed first!(Click the videos above to watch an interview with UFC Fighter Hector "Lightning" Lombard on Louisiana Living.)
The non-profit boxing event pits firefighters against police officers.
On Friday night, they were weighed-in at Hooters in West Monroe.
The men and women come from all over the region and as far as Florida and Austin, Texas.
"The camaraderie really brings the policemen and firemen together," said Dennis Wall, one of the organizers for Battle of the Badges.
They've sold between 3,000 and 4,000 tickets so far -- that money going to a good cause.
Proceeds go to the Med-Camps
, which sends kids with disabilities and chronic illness to a one-week summer camp for free.
"We go out there twice a year and spend time with those kids. We'll do SWAT demos and K9 demos. Fire comes out. And we do rescues and stuff. We spend time with those kids," said Wall. "It's nice to be able to support them, and they get to go to camp free of charge from the money we raise."
Battle of the Badges donates about $30,000 a year.
This is their 10 year anniversary for the event.
