Location: Downtown Monroe on S. Grand Street across from the courthouse on the Ouachita River
The City of Monroe and Community Trust Bank will present the Downtown RiverMarket on Saturday, July 5th. If you’ve missed the RiverMarket being opened, some excellent live entertainment, delicious food and spirits, and unique vendors await you on the riverwalk overlooking the Ouachita River. This is the last RiverMarket day until the Fall season begins on October 4th.
We invite you to bring the whole family and join us this weekend for a day filled with mouthwatering BBQ, plenty of brews, live music, and fun dedicated to our beautiful USA!

Brian Sivils is a true child of the Delta. He grew up listening to gospel and blues. In the Air Force his music career blossomed, and he learned from Willie Steel, an early drummer for Howlin’ Wolf. He also mastered many forms of music, from pop to musical theatre, to classical, to rock. Sivils toured the world as a vocalist, and bandsman, performing in Italy, Romania, the United Kingdom, Turkey, and the Pacific Theater. He also worked as a community chorus leader, lead singer for big bands and pop groups, and served as a road manager, sound engineer, and arranger. Brian’s big turning point came when he engi neered for blues legend Bobby Rush. He and Rush soon became friends, and after hearing his original work, Rush encouraged him to develop his own solo act and recordings. Sivils has now produced three CD’s of original compositions: “Gizmo Lounge”, “Once Upon A Time In The Delta”, and “Juke Joint Poison”. As a solo artist Brian was selected by readers of Louisiana Road Trips Magazine as the 2009 Entertainer of the Year. Sivils is now available for live performances for events of all sizes, and can provide original blues music and covers of blues classics as a solo act, in a duo, or with a band.
Blue Heals is a rock and blues band that is sure to get you up and on your feet. Danny Witherington is an extremely talented musical artist. He and Blue Heals are very well known around the NELA area. They play in local Monroe and West Monroe joints such as Enoch’s Pub and Sundown Tavern.
Clayton Maza and the HANDS ON Band consist of West Monroe born and raised Clayton Maza, David Lowery, Phillip “Flip Daddy” Welch, and Chris Moravek. Clayton Maza has been entertaining crowds since the age of 15. Fronting his own band CLAYTON and The Young Guns he saw the stage opening for artists like EXILE and Robert Earl Keen. In 1999 Clayton joined forces with Dave Lowery and Phillip Welch to form the first incarnation of HANDS ON. Along the way Clayton has had the pleasure to have his music in a few independent films(In Purgatory from NOLA WORLD ENTERTAIMENT and New Hope from R2 Productions). Clayton Maz a also works very steadily in his studio MAZA RECORDING STUDIOS helping produce numerous artist develop and complete there album projects. Clayton is also a guitar instructor and served on the judges table for the Ark la miss Idol. When not playing the show Clayton can also run the sound for the show. Running the board for such acts like T Graham Brown, Gene Watson and Ronnie McDowell just to name a few. Clayton now lives in Monroe Louisana with his wife Mandi with 1 daughter and a son on the way. David Lowery is currently the owner of a Recording and Learning center in Northeast Louisiana. He is also currently working on mutable projects: including producing, writing, arranging, mixing, mastering projects and also developing new artists. Phillip Welch first picked up a pair of drum sticks at 7 years of age. Completely self-taught, he watched his fellow drummers, instructional videos, and “live” performances of other drummers to give his chops the “Flip Dadd y” touch! Chris Moravek is a professional musician with over 30 years of experience playing Jazz, Blues, Rock, R&B, Country, and Gospel. Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, he came from a musical family and he began playing saxophone and guitar in grade school. His first professional gig was at 16 years old.

All Star Revue is a group of several different amazing artists including Josh Madden, Stephan Paul Smith, Brandon Harvey, Toby Traylor, Paul Amy, Doug Duffey, Monty Russell, Kenny Bill Stinson, Danny Lee & Dave, and General Patterson. The RiverMarket welcomes Mrs. Africa Johnson with Two Loop Boutique to the market for the first time. Mrs. Johnson handmakes custom hair bows, tutus, flip-flops, keychains, zipper pulls and bowties. Two Loop Boutique has everything precious that you could want for your little lady or gentleman. Stop by and see Mrs. Johnson this Saturday and meet her smiling face!
Our own Will Evans with Cajun Will’s Sweet Spot will join us this Saturday. We all know Will from his famous foot long “Cajun Corndogs”, but Will has a new yummy surprise for those who have a sweet tooth. He has started making fried moon pies. Will takes a chocolate double decker moon pie and fries it golden in his own homemade batter. Will then cuts the moon pie into quarters, and tops it off by drizzling it with chocolate and caramel syrup, and sprinkling powdered sugar over the whole thing.
Dickey’s Barbeque Pit is new to the area and coming to share their mouthwatering food with the RiverMarket. Dickey’s is bringing brisket and pulled pork that is cooked low and slow for sandwiches, ribs that are fall-off-the-bone, barbeque chicken and sausage. Barbeque baked beans and the one of a kind baked potato casserole will be offered as sides. Bring your appetite!!!
